Parvin Hasani Zadeh ESR9

My project:

“Understanding factors affection metal speciation in bioreactors. Biology meets technology”

Biography:

I am Parvin, from Iran. I got my B.Sc. degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Shiraz University, Shiraz, Iran in 2012. Afterwards, I was ranked first in the national universities entrance exam for M.Sc. degree in biotechnology in 2012. I completed a Master of Microbial Biotechnology specializing in “fungal biosurfactant” and “oil bioremediation” from the University of Tehran in 2016. Since then, I has participated in several research projects in the area of environmental biotechnology. I believe joining M2EX project is a great opportunity to assemble the knowledge and skills I gained within 4 years of research in the field of Environmental Biotechnology and add some new idea for improving the multifunctional application of this science. In my free time, I enjoy travelling, being involved with charities and playing a number of sports, including tennis and volleyball.

My project:

“Implementation of metal modeling speciation in reactor operation ADM1 approach”

Biography:

I am Susan, indian national born in Kerala, a small and cosy state on the south-western coast of India. I obtained my master’s degree in ‘Environmental Engineering and Management’ from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi in 2019 and graduated in B. Tech degree in Civil Engineering in 2017. During my masters, I did a 7 month research stay at Leibniz University Hannover, Germany as part of DAAD-IIT Master Sandwich Scholarship Programme to develop my master thesis on ‘Mathematical modelling of nitrate removal from contaminated ground water in an innovative biofilm reactor’. Driven by passionate research interests and curiosity to learn and explore the subject, I got motivated and determined to take a step further by pursuing PhD. As my professional experience, I have worked as a research assistant at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and as an engineer at Bremen Overseas Research and Development Organisation (BORDA-South Asia). In my leisure time, I enjoy travelling, gardening and hiking.

My project:

“Fate of metals in anaerobic digestates. Opportunities for recovery and reuse”

Biography:

I am Ailen, an Environmental Engineer from Argentina, graduated from an Erasmus Mundus International MSc.in Environmental Engineering and Technology. I am passionate about science and sports and I truly believe that cross disciplinary and multicultural collaboration can help to achieve objectives with a higher impact in every field. I am grateful to join the M2-ex project as a Marie Curie ITN PhD fellow and I am excited to contribute to move towards a circular economy by investigating how to recover heavy metals from anaerobic digestates. I enjoy travelling, dancing and meeting new people around the world.
